FAQ

What do I need in order to use ProjectCenter®?
Just a computer with Internet access, an email account and one of the following Java-enabled Web browsers: Internet Explorer 6.0+, Firefox 2.0+, and Chrome.

What if my team is hesitant in using ProjectCenter?
For new clients, or teams with staff new to working on the Internet, Bricsnet provides complete workflow consultation and orientation in one training session.  This can be scheduled on the same day as a kickoff or team meeting, and ensures everyone will be successful in using the system.

What are the benefits of using a hosted extranet service?
The extremely short implementation time: you can literally start anytime and anywhere. No special hardware or software and no system managers or other resources are required.  Therefore, the initial investment is usually zero, and the operational costs are minimal.

Is it safe to store confidential documents in ProjectCenter?
ProjectCenter is protected by a password security system.  If normal rules of confidentiality are obeyed, sharing data through ProjectCenter is much safer than copying documents and sending them to all parties involved in the project.

What types of documents can be managed by ProjectCenter?
ProjectCenter manages any type of document.  The system allows you to view and/or redline 200 file formats, including .doc (Microsoft Word), .xls (Microsoft Excel), .dwg (AutoCAD) and .dgn (MicroStation).

How does ProjectCenter compare to email?
If you email a document to several people, you never know who has the latest version.  And sometimes people don't have the application they need to view the document, or the email doesn't arrive at all because the attached file is too large. With ProjectCenter, you keep all documents in one secure place - just view them online without worrying about downloads.

How does ProjectCenter compare to FTP?
ProjectCenter provides a much more intuitive, easier way to upload and download documents than FTP. All it takes is a Web browser to access and use files; you never have to think about their physical storage location. ProjectCenter also provides workflow integration, document viewing and redlining, complete activity history, and search capability.

What is redlining, and how does it work?
Redlining is a way to add comments (text and/or drawing elements) to documents and drawings without changing the original file. The information is superimposed on the drawing in a separate layer file.
